We are looking to hire a Global Head of Toys to help us build our IP franchises into successful toy lines that kids love to play with as much as they love to watch our content.

 

The Global Head of Toys will have accountability and management of our toy and physical games business.  He/she will oversee our relationships with toy licensees across all Moonbug properties.

The successful candidate will develop solid business relationships with toy with key toy licensees that drive and deliver growth in retail and licensing sales.  

 

The role requires excellent communication skills, and an ability to work collaboratively with a broad cross-section of major licensing partners where a strategic approach is needed. This includes (but not limited to) MGA, Jazwares, Thinkway, Hasbro, Mattel, LEGO, JustPlay & Jakks. 

 

Outputs will include creation and co-ordination of global line plans and retail activation programs.

RESPONSIBILITIES 

General

 

  • Manage relationships with existing toy licensees & identify new partners to continually strengthen the licensee base
     

  • Lead contract negotiation with new licensees and distributors to maximise royalty revenue
     

  • Maximise the breadth of product offering, managing a wide portfolio of partners and products
     

  • Develop strategic recommendations and implement plans for new business via strategic plans for each sub-category & franchise
     

  • Collaborate with Moonbug commercial and regional leads providing information and regular updates, understanding and satisfying local market needs and differences
     

  • Work closely with the Creative team on product development, briefing strategy, range planning, brainstorms and development timelines

 

Joint Business Plans

 

  • As part of a joint business planning process develop, agree, and execute category, franchise and retail plans with the licensee, to drive mutual profitable growth
     

  • Develop account plans with the licensee which maximize opportunities across all formats (eg brick-and-mortar, online) and leverages cross-functional opportunities
     

  • Work with other key stakeholders, to optimize and implement agreed plans

Client & Stakeholder Management

  • Act as an ambassador for Moonbug
     

  • Own the licensee JBP and seek expert support when and where required
     

  • Develop senior-level contacts in licensee and work with the Business Unit Director on ‘Top to Top’ meetings
     

  • Lead the communication internally with relevant stakeholders

Sales Administration and processes

  • Keep sales administration and licensee files up to date and accurate
     

  • Manage licensee investment plan
     

  • Analyze and interpret sales reports, consumer data, insights and ROI analysis
     

  • Lead account forecasting process for defined licensee

Special Projects

  • Manage and deliver projects as agreed with the SAL and in-line with personal development plan

 

Areas of Accountability

  • Accountable for meeting targets and growing the toy business
     

  • Accountable for range planning with all toy and games licensees  
     

  • Accountable for representing Moonbug at retailer meetings
     

  • Accountable for the deployment of the JBP across toy and games licensees
     

  • Budget and P & L accountability for toy and games categories
     

EXPERIENCE
 

  • 10+ years experience in managing major toy Customer/Licensee in a commercial function with direct P&L responsibility essential
     

  • Experience establishing senior customer relationships essential
     

  • Experience developing and delivering Joint Business plan essential
     

  • Experience working with/for leading global toy companies (Hasbro/Mattel/MGA etc) essential
     

  • Experience in developing range plans for toys
     

  • Experience working in a multinational, matrix organisation preferred
     

  • Broad experience of retail and/or the licensing industry
     

  • Graduate caliber (or equivalent), with excellent commercial understanding of business
